Olivia Smith
childminder & Babysitter
Experience
I have over 3 years experience childminding for all ages and types of family, I am level 3 First Aid Qualified, Lifeguard Qualified. I’m eldest in my family meaning I have grown up helping my family care for younger members. My mother works in a junior school so I often help in her class when I am not in Uni. I also have a full UK Driving License and car which I’ve held for 2 1/2 years. I really enjoy working with children and would love to carry on extending my services whilst I am out of my studies.
I currently child-mind for a many families with a range of ages. Being the eldest in my family I have always been around and looked after younger children. This means I know how to handle situations and I am able to think fast, due to my experience and knowledge. I can babysit infants through to older school children and also more than one child at a time. When babysitting I am happy to tidy up after them, cook, help with homework, keep to routine etc. Also, if it is a daytime shift, I am happy to take them out in my car or by foot (with permission).
I am also familiar with some Additional needs; Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD and Autism.
WORK
EXPERIENCE
August 2015 & 2017 for 3 evenings, I worked on the information desk at the proms in the park Bedford. This job was only for 3 days each year, but a lot happens, with all my errands I’m given comes with pressure to deliver, it tests my problem solving and initiative. I love how rewarding this job is and how I can push myself to adapt to any situation thrown at me. I will be working at 2 more events this summer.
August 2015 to current date I have been a childminder for several families, of all ages. From family members to families who have reached out through advertisement. This is one of my favourite jobs of all time, I have always loved working with children yet never carried out Childcare courses in school as it was not something I wanted a full time career in and already had a lot of first-hand experience with children being the eldest in the family. I love working with children when I am not studying in term time, I find it so rewarding and enjoyable, so it is a great part time job.
13th May 2016 to 22nd April 2017, cashier and customer service, for GO Outdoors. Working within this company taught me the most about customer service, here I had to process online instore purchases, refunds, complaints, customer problems etc. some of these situations could be challenging, customers could be aggravated it taught me what to expect and how to handle all customer behaviours well.
May to September 2017 to now I worked as a recreational assistant (lifeguard) at Oasis Beach Pool & Saxon Pool & Leisure. This was my first full time job which I enjoyed being independent and having a routine. There are massive responsibilities with Lifeguarding like, saving lives, hygiene, safeguarding, first aid and more.
